In 2017, Mysterium began its mission to make the internet blind to borders.
We built a completely new protocol from scratch. It now powers a decentralised privacy network that protects anonymous expression and equal access to information. for users everywhere.
On 22nd November, this open-source and infinitely scalable network will be released on Ethereum and Polygon mainnets. This launch will be the manifestation of our original whitepaper, and the culmination of three years of blood, sweat, and code.
What started out as a small team, has now grown into a global community made up of hundreds of thousands of node runners and users, This grassroots project would be nothing but an idea without the power of peers bringing our protocol alive.
We'd like to thank all of our users, node runners, partners and collaborators across the metaverse.

Mysterium's unstoppable growth
Just because we’ve been on testnet, doesn’t mean we haven’t been on our A-game.
The Mysterium VPN app has already been downloaded 400,000 times, with over 114,000 monthly active users (MAU).
That’s more than SushiSwap, the current fifth-ranking dapp on Ethereum. So technically Mysterium became a Top 5 dapp by MAU, even before we hit mainnet...
The numbers don't lie...

Mysterium is powered by a global peer-to-peer marketplace. Users turn their devices, such as Raspberry Pis or computers into nodes, which act like miniature servers.
These node runners can then sell their spare internet resources to each other, such as bandwidth and IP address. This creates a censorship-resistant layer of the internet.
There is 900Tb of traffic served each month and millions of P2P transactions (micropayments) taking place in the network each day.
A new era for Mysterium
But Internet censorship is only expected to get worse in 2022. We need to undo decades of exploitative centralisation and make sure our web infrastructure is resistant to political and corporate control.
It's an exciting time for the future of Web3, and we have big plans to make the internet truly borderless.
More details about our project's new direction will be shared next week.
MYST Delegation Pool [BETA]
We will also be redesigning our tokenomics model to support new use cases and maximise the decentralisation of the network.
Mysterium will be utilising the new IQ Protocol by PARSIQ to simplify payments for users and node runners, and add a staking mechanism that enables all network participants to earn yield in a low-risk and secure way.
Node runners will be required to stake tokens, locking them in the network.
The BETA version of the Mysterium Delegation Pool will enable token holders to stake MYST, and earn rewards in MYST.
In future, rewards for both nodes and stakers will be issued in DAI stablecoin, so that users aren't exposed to market fluctuations.
Stay tuned for our full launch next week, when Mysterium's post-mainnet plans will be revealed.
